History
History is not only about learning facts and dates.
At St Paul’s, we aim to create a lively and exciting environment in which pupils become detectives and learn to discover the past for themselves.
This helps them to understand why people made the choices they did in the past, and how these decisions have impacted on our lives today. Using a range of sources and experiences, our pupils develop effective enquiry skills. We bring the past to life and fully-immerse our children in history by planning a range of role-play activities, event days, trips and specialist in-school workshops for pupils.
In Reception, history is taught within the Early Learning Goal ‘Understanding the World’. From Year 1 to Year 6, we follow the National Curriculum Framework.
