Commonly Asked Questions
What type of school is St. Paul's
We are a two-form entry Catholic Primary School with a total of 14 classes from Reception through Year 6. Our students enjoy the benefits of being at one school for their primary years:
- No change of school after Year 2
- Younger children learn from older children (for example our Reception/Y5 Partner programme)
- Older children have an opportunity to mentor and lead at the school
- Siblings are together from Reception to Year 6 (one drop/pickup for parents!)
What is the catchment area?
Uniquely, we have a large catchment area that covers Esher, Thames Ditton, Claygate, and Cobham. Since we serve the parishes of 3 different churches, our catchment covers the local area of these parishes as well as the surrounding areas.
We welcome families of any faith.
Do I need to be Catholic for admissions?
As with all schools, we have categories that define the priority of admissions if the school is oversubscribed. The categories extend from Cat 1 to Cat 14 and can be found in our Admissions Policy. Each year differs based on the applications received; however, for the past 2 years, our Reception class admissions extended to Category 14, encompassing children of any or no faith. Our 2022-23 Reception class is 50% Catholic and 50% non-Catholic.
We require a Supplementary Information Form for applications to be considered for Categories 1–7. If you have any questions about the admissions criteria, please contact our admissions officer at admissions@stpauls-thamesditton.surrey.sch.uk
I'm interested in In-Year Admissions
If you have recently moved to the area and you are interested in moving your child to St. Paul’s in Years 1 through to 6, then please contact our (Admissions Officer) at admissions@stpauls-thamesditton.surrey.sch.uk or 0208 3998 6791 to see if there are any spaces available.
What are St. Paul's academic results?
We are proud of the academic achievements of our students and more importantly of their journey of growth over the seven years they are with us. The results of our assessments are consistently above the national average and above local Surrey averages as well. We believe this academic success comes from a focus on the whole child – including well-being, self-esteem, talents and interests.
Do you have an After School Club?
We offer wrap-around care through our onsite Breakfast Club and After School Club from 7:45am until 6:00pm. Find out more on the Wrap-around care page.
